Understanding SLCA Trained Coaches: Training and Certification

For those seeking to hire a coach from the Self-Led Coaching Academy (SLCA), this guide outlines the training formats and certification details to help you understand the qualifications of our coaches. SLCA coaches are trained in a unique methodology that integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS) with action-oriented coaching, empowering clients to lead self-directed, transformative lives.

Training Formats

SLCA offers two distinct training programs, each designed to develop skilled coaches through a blend of theoretical learning and hands-on practice. Both formats ensure coaches are well-equipped to guide clients effectively.

1. Live Training Program

  • Duration: 4 months

  • Format: Weekly live sessions facilitated by Conor McMillen, fostering real-time engagement and personalized feedback.

  • Practical Experience: Participants alternate between the roles of client and coach, practicing with peers to refine their skills in a supportive, experiential setting.

  • Benefits for Clients: Coaches trained in this format excel in interactive, dynamic sessions, drawing from their immersive group learning to foster deep client connections.

2. Online Training Program

  • Duration: 3 months

  • Format: Flexible, self-paced online modules, ideal for independent learners.

  • Practical Experience: Trainees work with a beta-client, applying their skills in real-world coaching scenarios to build confidence and competence.

  • Benefits for Clients: Coaches from this program are adept at delivering structured, adaptable sessions, leveraging their experience with individual client work.

Note: "Contributors" are those that have contributed to the SLCA program rather than participated in it, therefor a certificate of completion is non-applicable.

Certification

All SLCA-trained coaches listed in our directory have either earned a Certificate of Completion as a Self-Led Coach or are marked as "In-Progress". The Certificate of Completion is awarded upon successfully finishing either the live or online program, signifying proficiency in SLCA’s distinctive coaching approach, which combines IFS principles with practical, goal-oriented strategies to support clients’ internal and external growth. An "In-Progress" designation indicates that the student is currently working toward their Certificate of Completion and is actively engaged in the training program.

These coaches have been trained using the SLCA approach. They may offer this exact type of coaching work or a variation, such as a 3-month coaching container or a single session. Rest assured, all SLCA coaches have completed an in-depth study of both IFS and action-based coaching, mastering how to blend the two harmoniously to guide clients toward meaningful, lasting change.

Note: The SLCA certification is not affiliated with the IFS Institute, nor does it claim to be equivalent to IFS certification. Instead, it represents a specialized skill set tailored to fostering self-led transformation, making SLCA coaches uniquely qualified to guide clients toward meaningful, lasting change.
