DESCRIPTION OF IFSA MEETINGS: "Our meetings renew our connections and release our Selves. If you haven't experienced them, you are missing a treat..." Dick Schwartz At present there are two types of meetings available within the IFSA: Community meetings and Peer Groups. There is also a Business Meeting of the IFSA board, which is currently a "virtual meeting" via internet and conference call since members are not geographically close. Members of IFSA are informed of decisions via the newsletter and webiste and are encouraged to communicate their wishes to the Board. COMMUNITY MEETINGS: The IFSA community meeting evolved as a place for those interested in the IFS model to come together to learn, share, connect and play. It is a relaxed, informal atmosphere in which your individual interests or concerns can be explored with others having similar interests/concerns. Attendees have a richdiversity of backgrounds, expertise and experiences that they gladly share. As one regular put it, "It's not just connecting with other IFS therapists, it's also a great opportunity for free training." Our Open Space format facilitates "connecting". People can try out new techniques or ideas in a safe and nurturing environment. Most of all, it is a chance to spend a day with people who value staying centered in Self while exploring the model. The open-space format is uniquely suited to the IFS model which enhances every system's ability to attain self-leadership. Currently, there is one location for the IFSA Community meeting - the Chicago area. For assistance in holding a Community meeting, contact Leslie Reambeault at ifsa@att.net or contact members of your local IFS training group. As dates are set, we encourage notice to be sent to the webmaster@internalfamilysystems.org for inclusion in a calendar at this website. PEER GROUPS: An IFS peer group is usually 3 to 6 people, and once formed, peer groups are generally closed, with the purpose of studing and practicing the model, through discussion of therapy cases or with each other. Peer groups are formed by individuals and not directly sponsored by IFSA. Those wishing to be listed are posted in the Self to Self newsletter. Peer groups are currently meeting in locations in several states.
